Rimandati da settembre a causa dello sciopero degli attori, si sono finalmente svolti nella notte del 15 gennaio i 75° Emmy Awards. Nella serata di gala, così come già accaduto con i recenti Golden Globes, a brillare sono state soprattutto tre serie: Succession, The Bear e Beef.
Succession ha iniziato la serata con 27 nomination, il maggior numero tra tutte le serie, vincendo ben 6 Emmy. Il dramma targato HBO ha portato a casa il premio come Miglior Dramma, oltre a tre dei quattro premi principali per la recitazione con Kieran Culkin, Sarah Snook e Matthew Macfadyen mattatori della serata.
Nel campo comedy, il protagonista è stato The Bear di FX. I protagonisti dello show Jeremy Allen White, Ayo Edebiri e Ebon Moss-Bachrach hanno ottenuto rispettivamente il premio come Miglior Attore, Miglior Attrice Non Protagonista e Miglior Attore Non Protagonista. Da sottolineare, però, che questi riconoscimenti fanno riferimento alla prima stagione di The Bear.
Beef di Netflix ha invece dominato le categorie per le Serie Limitate o Antologiche. Ha vinto 5 Emmy, inclusi il Miglior Attore per Steven Yeun e la Miglior Attrice per Ali Wong. Il creatore dello show, Lee Sung Jin, ha ricevuto i premi per la Miglior Sceneggiatura e la Miglior Regia, e lo show ha vinto il premio più importante come Miglior Serie Limitata o Antologica.
Tra tutti i vinti, invece, tornano a casa a mani vuote The Last Of Us e le ultime stagioni di Better Call Saul, The Crown e Ted Lasso.
