La 74° edizione degli “Oscar del piccolo schermo”, seppur priva di attori importanti che si schiaffeggiano a vicenda, fa lo stesso parlare di sé.
Un’altra annata che lascia parzialmente con l’amaro in bocca per molte categorie e alcune serie, esattamente come era accaduto con WandaVision e Lovecraft Country l’anno scorso, solo che quest’anno le vittime illustri sono: Ozark, Better Call Saul (che comunque avrà modo di rifarsi l’anno prossimo con la 2° parte di stagione che non era stata considerata quest’anno), Severance, Barry e Yellowjackets.
A fare incetta di premi ci sono i soliti noti come Succession (12 nomination in 6 categorie e 3 premi vinti) e Ted Lasso (10 nomination in 6 categorie e 4 premi vinti) e con estremo piacere anche quella bellissima sorpresa chiamata The White Lotus (11 nomination in 4 categorie diverse e 4 premi vinti). Quello che si può notare, al di là di giustizia o ingiustizia delle votazioni, è il solito modus operandi che porta ad avere un certo strapotere per alcune serie (vedasi Succession e Ted Lasso) che oscurano altri prodotti che avrebbero meritato almeno una vittoria.
Non tutto, però, è negativo perché un po’ di giustizia divina è arrivata a colpire anche nomination completamente scriteriate come quella di Kaley Cuoco che è stata infatti giustamente sconfitta nella categoria Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series per il suo ruolo da protagonista in quell’aborto chiamato The Flight Attendant, oppure quella di Inventing Anna in quella di Outstanding Limited or Anthology Series.
Altro elemento interessante su cui soffermarsi è la vittoria nella categoria Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series di Lee Jung-jae come protagonista di Squid Game in quanto si tratta della prima volta nella storia degli Emmy che un attore vince questa statuetta pur non avendo recitato in lingua inglese. È una prima volta molto interessante perché apre le porte anche ad altre produzioni ma, allo stesso tempo, pone anche un certo tipo di domande sulla bontà di questa vittoria visto che è difficile per molti critici poter giudicare allo stesso modo una performance in coreano di Jung-jae con una di Jason Bateman, Brian Cox, Bob Odenkirk, Adam Scott o Jeremy Strong. Nomi piuttosto difficili da battere sulla carta.
